Experience & Expertise

2003

Imedia8 created its first video-on-demand platform in 2003 as a project for global oil giant Shell. Using Akamai as a Content Delivery Network the video was streamed as flv.

2007

By 2007 Imedia8 had developed the first version of its multimedia Newsroom VOD platform and counted the ICRC and IFRC as clients.

2009

During this period in partnership with a global media agency Imedia8 made event streaming platforms for some of the largest brands in the world, including IWC watches, Coca Cola, Diageo, E-on, AstraZeneca, LVMH.

2015

Always at the forefront of emerging technology, by 2015 all Imedia8’s video platforms were moved into the Cloud. Such a move allowed for greater processing power, increased redundancy and at a better cost than the legacy on-premise model.

At this time Imedia8’s video streaming platform was being used by more global organisations including Human Rights Watch, the International Labour Organisation, the International Telecoms Union and the GAVI Alliance.

2016

In 2016 our first purely cloud-based live streaming platform was released which made use of very early Artificial Intelligence for automated subtitling and transcript production.

2020

The COVID pandemic of 2020 accelerated many organisations digital transformation and livestreaming became the norm for individual staff, teams and other stakeholders to communicate.

At the beginning of 2020 the United Nations Office at Geneva launched an Imedia8 Newsroom platform and Viking Cruises started a daily livestream using our full-cloud solution.

VIking Cruises has since broadcast a live stream every single day for four years. During this period the Imedia8 live-to-VOD platform has supported nearly 5 million views of up to 15,000 concurrent viewers.

Partnering with Akamai as a Content Delivery Network has meant there is no limit to the number of concurrent views possible or bandwidth available.

2020

Also in 2020 a specialised UN agency based in Europe contracted Imedia8 to provide its live-to-VOD platform to provide secure streaming services so it could broadcast its private meetings. The extremely confidential nature of the content meant that Imedia8 developed a unique secure encryption protocol for the streams. It is believed that Imedia8 is the only livestreaming platform in the world that offers the very high level of security that is required by UN agencies such as this.

2023

From 2023 all imedia8 livestreaming platforms were available with the option of the full multilingual streaming option. Developed entirely in-house, relying on no third party software providers, and fully cloud-based, this multitrack streaming system enables simple production of live events where multiple audio tracks are in-use.
